About the Walpole Room

The Walpole Room, located on the second floor of the library, serves as the repository for the Walpole Public Library’s historical collections. These are organized into three main categories– town records, local newspapers and historical archives. All items are non-circulating and must be used in the Walpole Room reading room.

Town Records

The Walpole Public Library has a collection of town records in print and microfilm format. Included in this collection is Town Meeting records, Town Annual Reports, Town Street Lists, vital records of births, marriages and deaths, local tax lists and other miscellaneous town records.

Local Newspapers

The Walpole Public Library’s collection of local newspapers include The Walpole Star, The Walpole Enterprise and The Walpole Times.  The library also has several Foxboro newspapers that predate the Walpole newspapers,  All newspapers are in searchable PDF format.

Historical Archives

The Walpole Public Library has many other materials of interest.  Walpole High School Yearbooks, historic maps, town histories, and genealogical materials.
