Walpole in the Revolutionary War

June 5 @ 7:00 pm EDT

“George Washington Had a Drink of Water Here”

This lecture recounts Walpole’s history in the Revolutionary War. There were hundreds of minutemen from Walpole, many of whom served during the siege of Boston.  Thousands of soldiers passed through Walpole, on the post road back and forth from Boston to New York. When George Washington departed from Boston after the British evacuation, he traveled through Walpole. Did he stop for a drink of water? Intrigued by the drinking gourd, Dyer researched this and is confident in confirming that he did.
