This year the Walpole Public Library’s Summer Reading Program (6/18/2023- 8/23/2023) is for all ages (yes, adults too!). We use Beanstack, a fun, easy way to keep track of your books and activities so you can earn badges and prizes. Parents can manage their children’s progress within one account.
In Beanstack, you can view the available challenges and activities, enter the books you have read, write book reviews, and more. You will receive raffle tickets as you progress and be entered into drawings at the end of the summer.
Download the Beanstack Mobile App, which allows you to scan the ISBN barcodes of books to quickly update the list of books that you’ve read and track your progress.

Ages 0-5
It’s time to read beyond the beaten path! Summer reading is a fun program designed to engage all age groups. Even children who don’t yet read can participate! Reading to children encourages brain development, bonding between the reader and the listener, and life-long literacy skills.
Beginning June 18, 2023, you can start recording the number of minutes you spend reading.
- Read at a minimum of 600 minutes (10 hours within 8 weeks) and earn a “Walpole Reading Champion” lawn sign*!
- Badges = Raffle Tickets. Each time you earn a badge you will also receive a ticket to enter a prize basket raffle of your choice.
- For extra chances to win you can submit book reviews (pictures or short, written blurbs). Your first review also earns you a book of your choice to keep (visit Mrs. Dean’s office in the Children’s Room for details)!
- Summer reading ends August 23rd.
The Massachusetts Statewide Summer Library Program is funded by the Massachusetts Library System, the Boston Bruins, and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
*The first 100 participants (ages 0-18) who read 600 minutes between 6/18 and 8/23 will receive a “Walpole Reading Champion” lawn sign to display their superior reading skills! Signs are NOT limited to 1 per family; each reader has a chance to earn an individual lawn sign to keep.
